We’re excited to share that Axis Vehicle Outfitters LLC has been acquired by Meridian Overland, LLC, marking a new chapter for Axis Vehicles and the community that has grown around the brand.

The acquisition officially closed on March 1, 2026. Axis Vehicles will continue operating under the Axis Vehicles name and will remain based in Hood River, Oregon.

Founded by Gretchen Bayless and Taylor Hood, Axis Vehicles officially launched in 2020, with van-building experience dating back to 2015. Over the years, Axis has become known for building simple, durable, family-friendly campervans designed for real life, outdoor travel, and everyday use. That foundation will continue under the new ownership of Sami Barbar, owner of Meridian Overland, LLC.

What This Means for Axis Customers

For current and future Axis customers, the transition is designed to feel familiar. Axis Vehicles will continue to operate from Hood River, the existing team will remain involved, and current customers will continue to receive support and warranty service.

Gretchen and Taylor will also remain involved during the transition in advisory roles to help support continuity for customers, employees, vendors, and the local community.

Continuing the Axis Vehicles Legacy

Axis has always focused on building vans that are practical, dependable, and ready for the way people actually use them. The goal has never been to overcomplicate the experience. It has been to create vehicles that help people get outside more often, travel with confidence, and spend meaningful time with family and friends.

That approach will remain central to the brand.

Meridian Overland brings automotive industry experience and strong dealer relationships to Axis Vehicles. Under Sami’s ownership, the company plans to continue building on the Axis foundation while exploring opportunities for growth and expanded offerings.

While ownership is changing, the core of Axis Vehicles remains the same: thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, practical builds, and a commitment to helping people get outside with confidence.
